The traditional Bucharest preserved its structure right in the center: nobiliary mansions with wide gardens behind sumptuous pig iron and wrought iron gates were neighbouring the century-old grandfather houses, with verandas resting on carved columns. Among them, there were built houses in the shape of train cars, with two windows looking to the street and a hall looking to strait yards with ivy vault. The new villas and the tenement houses, with two-three floors, several apartments and stores facing the street were being built in the "modern vernacular" of the century's early decades. The old avenues were leading to outside the city - Plevnei Ave, Serban Voda Ave, Rahovei Ave, Mosilor Ave, Dorobantilor Ave.
